Fans Making “Mess of Me” Biggest Switchfoot Hit Yet
Anticipation for the November 10 release of an all-new Switchfoot album, HELLO HURRICANE, has reached worldwide proportions thanks to the first single, “Mess of Me.” The band leaked early copies of the song to fans, and the track has since shown up in Australia, Guatemala, and Russia. “Mess of Me” was also played during both televised NFL opening games, and this video is gaining thousands of views per day at YouTube.

More hometown props for Switchfoot; the band is an Artist of the Year nominee at the 2009 San Diego Music Awards to be held September 10. Other local contenders include Jason Mraz and Slightly Stoopid. Also, lead singer Jon Foreman’s side act Fiction Family is on the shortlist for Pop Album of the Year.
Of course, the biggest news is that Switchfoot will release HELLO HURRICANE, its first all-new album in three years, on October 6. Pre-orders for the project, available in five editions (from digital download to deluxe package with book and DVD) begin here in August. Sneak preview action is also happening at the band’s daily video blog.

San Diego’s Switchfoot entertained a hometown crowd last week at its fifth annual Bro-Am event—a surfing contest, private auction, and two concerts to raise funds and awareness for StandUp for Kids, an organization helping at-risk and homeless youth.
In this interview promoting the event, Switchfoot drummer Chad Butler shares the heart of the cause and also gives some sneak preview details about the band’s next studio set, HELLO HURRICANE, available this fall. The Internet is full of Bro-Am content, but among the musical highlights are a beachfront all-star jam on Tom Petty’s "I Won’t Back Down" and stellar evening performance of "Vice Verses" from the greatly anticipated new album.
